About Chater's
Chater’s was founded by Max and Máire Chater together with Dan Joines.
What began with cake and coffee has grown into a full kitchen serving seasonal food throughout the day. In the early days the cooking centred around pasta and a few small plates; today the kitchen runs more broadly, while the pasta and baking are both made in-house.
The bakery still anchors the room. The kitchen and bar follow the same approach — simple cooking, good ingredients and bottles chosen to be enjoyed.
Chater’s sits in a converted warehouse in the centre of Saffron Walden, with an open kitchen and our distillery, Vault Aperitivo, next door.
